Pomo Cowork · Time together
Body doubling online, with no camera to turn on
The form is still open. The files still need sorting. If you would rather start with someone else around, bring that unfinished job here.
What body doubling looks like here
Body doubling means doing a task while another person is present and doing their own thing. They do not have to teach, supervise or solve the task. Online, you can agree to work at the same time and return for a brief check-in. Here, that presence comes from live coworking sessions rather than a video call.
Choose something you have been putting off and name the first physical action: find the receipts, open the application form, or put five documents in the right folder. Then begin a short block while other people work. You can leave the timer beside your task without narrating what you are doing or sharing your screen.
For an arranged session, ask a friend to meet in a room you both have access to. Agree on the duration and where you will check in before you start. The app does not match you with a partner or synchronize everyone’s countdown. Room availability and access depend on the room; creation options are shown on the Rooms and Pricing pages.
A check-in that takes less than a minute
- Before starting, tell your friend: “I am sorting the receipts from last month. I will begin with the downloads folder.”
- Agree on 25 minutes, or a shorter interval, and start your own timers together.
- Keep conversation for the break. If a question interrupts you, jot it down for later.
- At the check-in, say what moved: “The receipts are sorted. I still need the two from my email.” Decide whether to do another round.
Why use this timer?
No camera setup
The coworking list shows active sessions. There is no video feed or screen-sharing step to arrange on this page.
Separate tasks are welcome
You can sort a folder while your friend reads a chapter. The shared agreement is about showing up, not matching output.
An honest place to restart
If you spent the block finding the right document, say so. That gives the next round a starting point without a performance report.
Bring the awkward little job
- A form you keep reopening
- Find the documents it asks for first. Completing every field can be a separate block.
- A crowded downloads folder
- Choose one month or one project. Leave unrelated files alone until that batch is sorted.
- An application waiting for a draft
- Work on one answer in your own document. A body double does not need access to the application or its personal details.
The Pomo Cowork difference
Company without a scheduled video appointment
Open the live workspace when you want to work alongside whoever is there. For a familiar group, use the room access and invitation options available in the app. Public presence can be enough for an informal session; a personal check-in still needs an agreement with another person.

Can I try body doubling online without a camera?
Yes. Pomo Cowork uses a live session list, not webcam calls. You can see active coworkers and run your own timer. If you prefer a spoken check-in with a friend, arrange that separately; built-in video calls are not part of this tool.
Will the site find me an accountability partner?
No. The live list shows current sessions but does not book or match partners. You can work alongside people already present or invite someone you know into a room you can both access. An empty list means nobody is visible in that workspace at that moment.
Do our timers start and stop together?
No. Each person controls their own countdown. For a shared block, agree on a duration and a start time, then check in when that block ends. Opening the same page or joining the same room does not synchronize the clocks.
What should I say to my body double?
Keep it concrete: what you will work on, where you will start, and when you will return. At the end, report what happened in a sentence. You do not need to explain private documents, share your screen, or account for every minute.
