Pomo Cowork · Make time for one thing

A classroom timer for the screen at the front

Explain the activity, check that everyone knows what to do, then start the clock. Five minutes is ready; change it to suit the lesson.

Your classroom countdown

Reset to change the duration after starting.

05:00

Local to this tab. Sessions are not saved; reloading resets the timer. Completion is a visual notice.

One countdown with 5, 10, 15 and 20-minute presets. It stops at zero with a visual notice, without an alarm or automatic break. Reloading resets it.

Put the activity on the board before the minutes

A classroom timer gives an activity an ending that students can see. Put the instructions on your board or lesson slide first: which questions to attempt, whether to work alone or in pairs, and what to have ready at the end. Start the countdown after explaining those instructions, so reading the task does not consume the working time.

Choose 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes, or enter a custom whole number. Fullscreen expands the countdown for a projector or shared display. Check the actual view from the back of your room before the activity; screen size, brightness and seating make a difference. On browsers that restrict fullscreen, the control opens an expanded page view instead.

At zero, the timer stops and shows “Time is up.” There is no sound, flashing finish or automatic move into a break. Reset before changing the duration for the next activity. This classroom countdown does not create student records or save a focus session. It lives in the current tab, so keep the page open until the activity ends.

Try a think, compare, explain activity

  1. Give the class one question and explain what an answer should include.
  2. Set five minutes for an individual attempt. Show the timer and press Start.
  3. Reset, choose another five minutes, and ask pairs to compare one point where their answers differ.
  4. When time ends, invite explanations. Choose a new duration only if you need a separate timed discussion.

Why use this timer?

A deliberate start

Choosing a preset or entering fullscreen does not start the clock. You decide when the class is ready.

A quiet ending

The visual completion notice leaves you in charge of how to bring the room back together.

No break cycle to manage

A lesson activity ends once. The next activity starts when you reset the timer and press Start again.

Choose a length for the actual activity

5 minutes: a starter or exit question
Ask for a brief answer or one worked example. Make the expected output small enough to discuss afterwards.
10 minutes: compare two approaches
Pairs attempt a problem, compare methods and choose one difference to explain to the class.
15 or 20 minutes: independent work
Set a reading passage, a short draft or a practice set. Adjust for the task and the students, rather than treating the preset as a rule.

The Pomo Cowork difference

Use the countdown without a class account

Open it on the teaching computer, set the minutes and enter fullscreen. Students do not need accounts or devices to follow the displayed clock. For your own preparation after the lesson, the main Pomo Cowork workspace has task-based work sessions and live coworkers.

Questions about classroom timer

Can I put the classroom timer on a projector?

Yes. Open this page on the computer connected to the projector and select Fullscreen above the timer. Use Exit fullscreen or Escape to return. Check the projected digits from the furthest seats before relying on them during a lesson.

Does the classroom timer make a sound?

No. This countdown shows a visual Time is up notice at zero. It does not play an alarm, announce warnings or start another interval. Keep the display visible and give your own verbal cue if the class needs one.

Can I use a duration other than the four presets?

Yes. Enter a whole number from 1 to 1440 in Duration in minutes before starting. For example, enter 3 for a transition. Once a countdown has started, reset it before changing the length, even if it is paused.

Will students see the same countdown on their own devices?

Opening the link on another device creates a separate local timer. To show everyone the same countdown, use one classroom display or share that display through your existing meeting software. The timer has no remote-control or device-sync feature.

Does the countdown continue after a reload?

No. Reloading or leaving the page resets this local timer. Keep the tab open while the activity runs. This tool does not save lesson timings, individual student progress or completed study sessions.
