Pomo Cowork · Time together

A coworking timer for the work after the meeting

The decisions are made. Now give each person time to do their part: 50 minutes of quiet work, followed by a ten-minute pause.

Your next focus session

Getting your timer ready…

50 minutes of focus, a ten-minute short break, and a 20-minute long break after three rounds. Each teammate starts and manages their own timer. An existing session keeps its timing.

Turn a team decision into a work block

A coworking timer gives a team a period for doing the work it has already discussed. Before the countdown, make sure each person has an independent next step and the information needed to attempt it. For a release, one colleague might prepare notes, another review documentation, and another check a small implementation detail.

Use the first block for tasks that do not depend on someone else finishing within it. If a blocker appears, write down the question or switch to an agreed fallback task. Decide beforehand how to raise an urgent dependency. A quiet work appointment should not leave someone waiting silently for an essential answer.

The 50-minute preset leaves ten minutes in an hour for a short break. Put setup before the hour or shorten the focus block if you also need introductions and a review. Pomo Cowork shows individual live sessions, not a host-controlled team clock or a measure of team output. Choose a check-in time separately and keep work reviews focused on the result.

Run a quiet team work period

  1. Agree on the work window, check-in channel, and how to handle urgent questions.
  2. Each person chooses an independent deliverable and a fallback task if blocked.
  3. Meet in the chosen workspace and start your own 50-minute timers at the agreed time.
  4. Save the work, take a ten-minute break, and share outcomes or blockers at the planned check-in.

Why use this timer?

Decisions get work time

Reserve a block to act on a plan before unrelated requests fill the day.

Dependencies are considered early

Check that people can begin independently before the quiet period starts.

Reviews stay concrete

Check the draft, change, or unresolved question instead of treating visible minutes as completed work.

For groups ready to make progress

Small product teams
Work on separate implementation, documentation, and review tasks after agreeing on scope.
Creative collaborators
Give each contributor time to develop a draft before comparing versions.
Volunteer groups
Use a limited overlap window for independent tasks that support the same event or project.

The Pomo Cowork difference

Visible sessions, independently managed work

Use the existing timer and live coworker list without introducing another meeting interface. Room access gives a group a common destination, while each person remains in control of their own work and breaks. A coworker’s online status does not establish availability or completion.

Questions about coworking timer

Can a host start or pause the whole team’s timers?

No. Each person controls their own timer. A facilitator can announce a start and finish through the team’s usual channel, but that does not remotely operate the countdowns.

Why use a 50-minute coworking block?

It leaves ten minutes for a break inside a one-hour window. Use a shorter interval if your appointment also needs setup or discussion. You can change the duration in settings before beginning.

What if I need an answer from a teammate during focus time?

Use the interruption rule you agreed before starting. Raise an urgent blocker through the agreed channel, or note the question and switch to an independent task. Do not assume that visible online activity means someone is available to respond.

Does the timer track whether our team delivered its work?

No. A timed session is a record of time, not proof of a finished result. Review the actual change, draft, or decision in your normal project tools. Use a check-in to identify what is ready and what remains blocked.

Can a team use this without video calls?

Yes. The page shows live sessions and individual timers without a video feed. Arrange any discussion separately, or agree on written check-ins before and after the quiet work period.

The next step is ready for some time

Choose independent tasks, agree on the return point, and begin the team’s quiet work period.
